Location-based experiences for a circus and outdoor theatre company.
The Covid crisis not only prevented Dizzy O’Dare – a contemporary circus and outdoor theatre company – from touring but also brought home the importance of embracing digital projects to help people be creative and engage in the arts in isolation, at home or during a walk around their local area.
We worked would closely with the Dizzy team to understand their requirements and ensure their engaging walks and trails, which include short stories, poetry and creative activities, could be delivered as close as possible as if they were there themselves.
The Arts Council funded project initially focused on the Medway area in Kent in order to comply with lockdown restrictions but over time more locations will be added.
Audio trail module
The app involved a new audio tours module in our Places and Trails platform to enable auto-play of the creative audio that the Dizzy team produced as users reach each location along a trail. Additional text, images and activities are accessed by the notification that appears on screen.
And how has the app been received? Well someone thought it was genius, so that is high praise!
Originally, Dizzy O’Dare were going to use our audio trails platform but their requirements were better suited to our multimedia Places and Trails platform, ensuring their full immersive experience could be delivered.
